<p class="Help-Text">You can use this procedure to resend Point of Sale data to QuickBooks Desktop if your financial software company file is damaged or lost.</p>
|
||
|
|
<p class="Help-Text">You should try to restore from a QuickBooks Desktop backup before using the recover feature. However, if your QuickBooks Desktop backup is not current, you could lose the sales data that you have been regularly sending from Point of Sale since the last backup date. The Recover QuickBooks option allows you to resend your Point of Sale data to QuickBooks Desktop for a specified date range.</p>
|

<p class="Help-Info-Line">This procedure should be used in only two situations:</p>

||

<p class="Help-Bulleted">Your QuickBooks financial software company file is corrupted and you have no backup or the backup is old.</p>
|
||

|
||
|
|
<p class="Help-Bulleted">You have started a new QuickBooks financial software company file, and want to populate it with Point of Sale data.</p>
|
||

<p class="Help-Text">This procedure sends all Point of Sale data for the specified date range to QuickBooks Desktop, whether or not it has been previously sent. If you use this feature for any purpose other than specified above, you may overwrite important information or create duplicate entries in your QuickBooks Desktop company file.</p>
|

<p class="Help-Text">It is suggested that you read the <a href="qbdata10.htm">Financial Exchange FAQs</a> for other possible issues and corrections before using this option.</p>

<p class="Help-Warning"><img src="../image/warning_icon_small.gif" alt="" width="24" height="25" border="0" class="hcp2">  <span class="hcp1">Warning</span>: Depending on the size of your Point of Sale data, the date range you specify, and your computer speed, data recovery may take a considerable amount of time to complete. Once started, the process must be allowed to finish. Errors may result in duplication or missed records if you attempt to stop and restart this process.</p>

<p class="Help-Bulleted">After recovering, the <a href="financialexchange_viewqbfstransactions.htm">Financial History</a> window in Point of Sale will show two entries for each resent record and document. The first link will no longer be functional.</p>

<p class="Help-Info-Line">To recover from a total QuickBooks Desktop financial software data loss (no backup):</p>
|
||
|
|
<p class="Help-Text">Use the steps below if you have been unable to restore your financial software data and/or have started a new QuickBooks Desktop company file. All vendors, customers, and transactional data within the specified date range will be sent.</p>
|

<p class="Help-Steps">Follow the <a href="qbdata01.htm">Prepare QuickBooks Desktop for Financial Exchange</a> topic to prepare the new company for Financial Exchange before selecting <font class="hcp3">Recover QuickBooks</font>.</p>

<p class="Help-Steps">Select <span class="hcp1">Financial Center</span> from the Financial menu.</p>
|
||

<p class="Help-Steps">In the Financial Center select <span class="hcp1">Show Advanced Options</span> and then click <font class="hcp3">Recover Data Now</font>.</p>

<p class="Help-Text">Use the procedure below if you have an intact QuickBooks Desktop company file but your recent sales activity has been lost due to restoring an outdated QuickBooks Desktop backup. Adjusts the dates in the example below to match your circumstances.</p>
|
||

<p class="Help-Text"><font class="hcp3">Example:</font> It is March 1. Your QuickBooks Desktop company file is damaged, and the most recent backup you have is from February 27:</p>
|

<p class="Help-Steps">Restore QuickBooks from your most recent backup (February 27).</p>
|
||
|

<p class="Help-Steps">In Point of Sale, select <font class="hcp3">Recover Data Now</font> from the Financial Center as explained in the procedure above.</p>
