<p class="Help-Note">This information is applicable to the <span class="hcp1">Add/Edit Tax Code Wizard</span>, accessed from the <a href="../../qbpos_company_preferences/sysprefs08.htm">Sales Tax</a> page of company preferences.</p>

<p class="Help-Text">Use the second page of the Wizard to specify one of the three tax code options:</p>
<p class="Help-Text"><span class="hcp1">Single-rate tax</span> Choose this option if all taxable items to which this code will be assigned are taxed at the same rate and you do not need to track and pay taxes to multiple agencies separately (or you choose to do so in your QuickBooks financial software instead of Point of Sale).</p>
<p class="Help-Text"><span class="hcp1">Price-dependent single-rate tax</span> Choose this option if all taxable items to which this code will be assigned are taxed at the same rate but only when the unit price exceeds a certain threshold.</p>
<p class="Help-Text"><span class="hcp1">Multi-rate tax</span> Choose this option for the most flexibility in collecting different tax rates based on item unit price ranges and/or to collect varying rates for multiple taxing agencies.</p>

<p class="Help-Text">When finished, select <span class="hcp1">N</span><font style="font-weight: bold;">ext <span style="font-weight: normal;">to go to the next page</span></font>.</p>
