<p class="Help-Text">Point of Sale allows you to create a new company data file, convert data from a previous version of the software, and to open any company data to which you have access on your network. These options are available only from the <a href="../qbpos_help_and_support/help_wstypes.htm">Server Workstation</a> and are subject to <a href="../qbpos_secadmin/secadminoverview.htm">security rights</a>.</p>
<p class="Help-Text">You can send your Point of Sale company data to an advisor or accountant, who can open the file on his own computer (must have Point of Sale installed).</p>
<p class="Help-Text">Upon initial startup of Point of Sale on the Server Workstation, you are prompted to create your company data (or to convert from a previous version of Point of Sale, if detected). If you chose not to create or convert company data initially but need to so now, or if you decide to start over, you can access these choices at anytime by selecting <span class="hcp2">C</span><font class="hcp1">ompany Data</font> from the File menu.</p>

<p class="Help-Text">(Pro) The Server Workstation at each store creates its own company data. Once Store Exchanges begin, the shared company information from Headquarters is added to the company data file at remote stores.</p>

<p class="Help-Heading-2">Where is my company data stored?</p>
<p class="Help-Text">The default locations for your Point of Sale data file is:</p>
<p class="Help-Text"><span class="hcp2">Windows XP</span>: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\(Shared) Documents\ Intuit\ Point of Sale n.n\Data\&lt;your company file name&gt;</p>
<p class="Help-Text" style="font-weight: bold;">Windows Vista: <span class="hcp3">C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\ Intuit\ Point of Sale n.n\Data\&lt;your company file name&gt;</span></p>

<p class="Help-Text" style="font-weight: bold;">To quickly go to this location from Point of Sale: &#160;<span class="hcp3">From the File menu, select</span> Utilities &gt; Browse to Data<span class="hcp3">. A Windows Explorer window opens to the location of your data folder.</span></p>

<p class="Help-Heading-2">Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard (DSS)</p>
<p class="Help-Text">If you use the <a href="../qbpos_merchant_service/cardservicesoverview.htm">QuickBooks POS Merchant Service</a> to authorize and settle payment card transactions, you must take measures beyond the general recommendations listed above to protect cardholder data during the collection, transmission, and storage of that data. Refer to the electronic <a href="javascript:UniqueId0.Click()">Implementation Guide</a> for assistance in using Point of Sale within an overall system that meets the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard (DSS) requirements.</p>
