<p class="Help-Text">Use the Purchasing preferences to set various options related to the purchasing of merchandise from your vendors.</p>

<p class="Help-Text">By default, purchase orders are sequentially numbered, starting with 1.</p>
<p class="Help-Text">If preferred, you can precede the number with a text string, such as the vendor name, vendor code, or the name of the associate making the PO. You can also change the starting number.</p>
<p class="Help-Text">Follow the instructions provided on the help sidebar on the preference page.</p>

<p class="Help-Text">There are default statuses for use in the <span class="hcp1">Status</span> field on purchase orders:</p>

<p class="Help-Text"><font class="hcp4">Open</font> is automatically assigned to every new order.</p>
</li>
<li class="p-Help-Text" style="margin-left: -20px;">
<p class="Help-Text"><font class="hcp4">Closed</font> is automatically assigned to the order once all listed items have been received on a voucher.</p>
</li>
<li class="p-Help-Text" style="margin-left: -20px;">
<p class="Help-Text"><span class="hcp1">Pending</span> should be assigned to planning orders that haven't been given to your vendor. &#160;(Pro) And so they are not included when Point of Sale calculates <a href="../qbpos_inventory/inven_avblqty_wndw.htm">available quantities</a>.</p>

<p class="Help-Text"><span class="hcp1">Suggested</span> is assigned to purchase orders generated by the <a href="../qbpos_purchasing/po_suggestpo.htm">Suggest PO</a> feature. (Pro)</p>

<p class="Help-Text">You can change the name of these statuses, add new ones, and arrange the order they appear in the <font class="hcp4">Status</font> field drop-down list on order forms. <a href="../qbpos_purchasing/po_status_tracking.htm">Learn more</a>.</p>
