<p class="Help-Text">Use this procedure to configure your system to work with the QuickBooks Desktop POS Merchant Service.</p>

<p class="Help-Steps"><a href="cardservices06.htm">Sign up</a> for a QuickBooks Desktop Payments Account and receive your Merchant Number.</p>

<p class="Help-Indent">Continue with the following steps after receiving your Merchant Number.</p>

<p class="Help-Steps">Select <font class="hcp1">Preferences</font> <font style="font-family: 'Wingdings 3'; font-weight: bold;" face="Wingdings 3"></font> <font class="hcp1">Company</font> from the File menu and then select the <span class="hcp2">M</span><font class="hcp1">erchant & Gift Services</font> page from the preferences menu on the left.</p>

<p class="Help-Steps">Enter the Merchant Number provided to you and specify other options:</p>

<p class="Help-Nested-List"><font class="hcp1">Do not allow manual transactions that fail address verification</font>. When credit card information is manually entered, an address verification is performed to compare the entered ZIP code, and optionally the street address, against bank records. If this option is selected, the transaction is not allowed if a mismatch occurs. <a href="cardservices_avs.htm">Learn more</a>.</p>

|
<p class="Help-Nested-List"><font class="hcp1">Do not allow manual transactions that fail card verification</font>. When credit card information is manually entered, an optional card verification can be performed using the verification code printed on the card. If this option is selected, the transaction is not allowed if the code entered does not match issuer records. <a href="cardservices_verificationcodes.htm">Learn more</a></p>

<p class="Help-Nested-List"><font class="hcp1">Accept debit/ATM card payments.</font> Select if you want to accept payment by debit/ATM cards. A PIN pad device is required to process PIN debit transactions; which must be configured in <a href="../qbpos_workstation_preferences/wsprefs_pinpad.htm">workstation preferences</a>.</p>

<p class="Help-Nested-List"><font class="hcp1">Allow cash back up to</font>. If processing PIN debit sales, select this option if you also want to allow cash back to the customer. Enter the maximum cash back amount (limit of $200).</p>

<li class="p-Help-Nested-List" style="font-size: 9pt;">
|
|
<p class="Help-Nested-List"><font class="hcp1">Automatically print and save receipt upon card approval</font>. This option (at the bottom of the window) lets you return to assisting the customer while the authorization completes and the receipt is automatically printed.</p>

<p class="Help-Steps">Select the <span class="hcp2">C</span><font class="hcp1">ommunication Setup</font> sub page, and specify how you will <a href="cardservices_communication_setup.htm">communicate</a> with the service, via Internet connection or dial-up (modem). Click the <span class="hcp2">I</span><font class="hcp1">nternet Connection Setup</font> button if you need help configuring an Internet connection.</p>

<p class="Help-Steps">Return to the <span class="hcp2">Merchant & Gift Services</span> page and select <span class="hcp2">Verify</span> next to your Merchant Number. Point of Sale will do a test connection and confirm that your account is active and ready to use. If errors are encountered, a message is displayed with information about resolving the situation.</p>
