<p class="Help-Text">Editing of saved history documents is limited to certain informational fields. However, if uneditable errors are discovered the entire document can be corrected by using a reverse, copy and correct procedure as described here.</p>

<p class="Help-Text">This is a general procedure. Use the links on this page to see specific information for your situation.</p>

<p class="Help-Info-Line"><font class="hcp1">To correct a history document:</font></p>
|

<p class="Help-Steps"><a href="basic_historydocs_reversing.htm">Reverse</a> the original document.</p>

<p class="Help-Indent">Reversing updates history, inventory, and any referenced order documents. In the case of a sales receipt, payments are canceled/credited to the customer. <a href="../qbpos_recording_sales_and_returns/receipt_reversenotes_paymentmethods.htm">How?</a></p>

<p class="Help-Steps">Display the original (reversed) document again.</p>

<p class="Help-Indent">The original document is marked <font style="font-style: italic;">Reversed</font> in the status field (displayed in the document history list).</p>

<p class="Help-Steps">Select <font class="hcp1">Copy <document></font> from the window toolbar.</p>

<p class="Help-Indent">A new document of the same type is started, with most of the same information as the original. Read more about what is not copied <a href="basic_historydocs_copy.htm">here</a>.</p>

<p class="Help-Steps">Edit the copy as necessary to correct the error.</p>

<p class="Help-Indent">You can add or delete items, change costs, prices, or quantities, and edit other <a href="../qbpos_fields/fields10.htm">information fields</a> as needed before saving.</p>

<p class="Help-Steps">If a receipt, record payment in the usual manner, typically by the same method as the original.</p>
