<p class="Help-Text">If connecting hardware to your Point of Sale workstations, you may have questions about which and how many peripherals your computer can support and what kind of port, or connection type, will be required for the hardware.</p>
<p class="Help-Text">Important notes about connection ports:</p>

<p class="Help-Bulleted">Refer to the hardware <a href="compatible_equipment.htm">compatibility charts</a> for the required port type for each piece of hardware.</p>

<li class="p-Help-Bulleted" style="margin-left: -20px;">
<p class="Help-Bulleted">If you purchase the Point of Sale hardware bundle sold by Intuit, which includes a receipt printer, cash drawer, bar code scanner, and payment card reader, you will need three USB ports. <a href="qbpos:helppopup.130">USB Port illustration</a><img src="../image/yellow_up.gif" alt="Click to display a popup topic" title="Click to display a popup topic" width="10" height="12" border="0" class="hcp1"></p>

<p class="Help-Bulleted">If you dont have enough USB ports available, you can purchase and install a powered USB hub. All Point of Sale hardware is USB 2.0 compliant. Please check your computer manufacturers specification to ensure you purchase the correct hub.</p>

<p class="Help-Bulleted">When disconnecting and reconnecting hardware that uses USB ports, ensure that you reconnect using the same USB port you used for initial installation. A good practice is to label the ports to help get the hardware reconnected properly.</p>

<p class="Help-Bulleted">PS/2 (keyboard) devices share the port with the keyboard, i.e. the computer does not need more than one PS/2 port.
