<p class="Help-Text">This procedure to assumes you have already installed Point of Sale on the computer to which you adding the USB printer. <a href="equipment_install_zebralp2824parallel.htm">View instructions for a parallel printer</a></p>

<p class="Help-Text">It is strongly recommended that you use the Hardware Setup Wizard to configure your Point of Sale hardware. You can access the setup wizard from the File menu and from individual hardware workstation preferences pages.</p>
|

<p class="Help-Text" style="margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 0;"> </p>

<p class="Help-Text">If your operating system is:</p>
|
|
<p class="Help-Text"><font class="hcp1">Windows XP/2000:</font> Use the procedure below to install the USB printer.</p>
|
|
<p class="Help-Text"><font class="hcp1">Windows 2003 Server:</font> Before installing this printer, you must set your <font class="hcp1">Disallow installation of printers using kernel-mode drivers</font> policy to <font class="hcp1">Disabled</font>. See these special instructions <a href="windows_2003_server_group_policy_settings.htm">here</a>. When finished, return here and start with Step 1 in the procedure below.</p>

<p class="Help-Info-Line">To connect and install the printer to your computer:</p>

<p class="Help-Steps">To install tags in the printer, open the printer cover and follow the instructions below. When done, close the cover.</p>

<p class="Help-Nested-List">Hang Tagsunroll so that tag stock feeds from bottom of roll (if nothing prints on the tags, then tag stock may be inserted into the printer upside down).</p>

<p class="Help-Nested-List">Labelsunroll so that tags are face up. Sample labels are included in the box.</p>

<p class="Help-Steps">Insert your Point of Sale CD into your CD-ROM drive. If the installation wizard launches because of this, select <font class="hcp1">No</font> to cancel.</p>

<p class="Help-Steps">Plug the printer power cord into the back of the tag printer and into an outlet. <font class="hcp1">Do not turn on the printer yet.</font></p>

<p class="Help-Steps">Select <span class="hcp2">Hardware Setup Wizard</span> from the File menu.</p>

<p class="Help-Steps">From the Point of Sale File menu, select <span class="hcp2">P</span><font class="hcp1">references</font> <font style="font-family: 'Wingdings 3'; font-weight: bold;" face="Wingdings 3"></font> <font class="hcp1">Workstation</font>, and then select <span class="hcp2">Documents & Printers</span> from the left-side preferences list.</p>

<p class="Help-Nested-List">Select an appropriate Zebra tag template to match the tag stock you have purchased for each.</p>
