<p class="Help-Heading-1">Set Your Internet Explorer Security Level</p>

<p class="Help-Text">Some Point of Sale features are displayed using the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser. If the security levels set for Internet Explorer on your computer are too restrictive, you may not be able to access some features or view some content in Point of Sale, or you may have to click through several security messages to view the content.</p>
<p class="Help-Text">Point of Sale features that use Internet Explorer will typically display correctly if the security levels for Internet Explorer are set to <span class="hcp1">Medium</span>. Only you can decide which level of security is right for you, and</p>

<p class="Help-Text">For the Internet zone, the default security level is <span class="hcp1">Medium</span>. At this level, Internet Explorer prompts you before downloading potentially unsafe content from an Internet site.</p>
<p class="Help-Text">For the Local intranet zone, the default security level is <span class="hcp1">Medium-low</span>. Since this zone is used for browsing sites on your company's network (intranet), the lower security setting is usually appropriate. If you are concerned about this security setting, contact the system administrator at your company.</p>
<p class="Help-Text"><span class="hcp1">Note</span>: For some versions of Microsoft Windows, such as Microsoft Windows Server, the default security level may be different. In these cases, you must set the security levels to Medium.</p>

<p class="Help-Text">When you change your security settings for Internet Explorer, the changes affect your Web browsing both inside and outside of Point of Sale.</p>
<p class="Help-Text">You can increase the security levels for Internet Explorer after you leave Point of Sale. However, the next time that you attempt to the use the same feature in Point of Sale, you will be asked to reduce the security levels again.</p>
<p class="Help-Text">To use all Point of Sale features, the security levels for Internet Explorer should not be set higher than Medium. The Medium security level is designed for safe browsing without loss of functionality.</p>

<p class="Help-Steps">In Microsoft Internet Explorer, go to the Tools menu and select <span class="hcp1">Internet Options</span>.</p>

<p class="Help-Indent">At the top of the page, you'll see a list of the Web content zones. You need only verify and change the settings for the Internet and Local intranet zones.</p>

<p class="Help-Steps">Select the <span class="hcp1">Internet</span> icon at the top of the window. Then, select the <span class="hcp1">Default Level</span> button.</p>

<p class="Help-Indent">Medium security should be selected, and a description of the security level appears in the window.</p>
<p class="Help-Note" style="margin-left: 28px;"><span class="hcp1">Note</span>: If Medium security is not selected as the default, use the slider to set the security level to Medium.</p>
